NO FCRA USE. Lee County Criminal History is a private resource with no local, state, or federal government affiliation. The site and its advertising partners do not provide a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or any other Fair Credit Reporting Act purpose. Its function is to identify public criminal-record resources in Lee County and South Carolina. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private-investigation business.
1. What This Website Is
This is a privately operated reference site independent of every government office. It does not keep official criminal files, obtain records for users, conduct official background checks, or submit government forms.
Its content identifies the custodians of Lee County records, including the Sheriff's Office, criminal courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool. Some pages also display outside tools that a visitor may choose to use.
2. Rules for Using This Site
Use of the site is conditioned on avoiding each of these acts:
- Interfering with performance or preventing another person from gaining access
- Deploying a scraper, bot, or other automated collection process
- Attempting unauthorized entry into any connected system or account
- Using site content for a credit, insurance, employment, or housing decision
- Threatening, stalking, or harassing a person with information found here
- Violating a federal, South Carolina, or local law through use of the service
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
No one may use information obtained here or through a linked service to intimidate, threaten, stalk, harass, or discriminate against another person. Misconduct can also violate criminal law. South Carolina's Title 23, Chapter 3 dissemination framework, including Section 23-3-510, provides increased penalties when registry information facilitates a crime. South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool data supports lawful community awareness, never vigilantism or discriminatory treatment.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
Lee County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create a credit report, background check, or consumer report. Its operators and advertising partners do not offer tools designed to assess employment, housing, insurance, or credit. Information from the site or a linked tool must not be used to:
- Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA
- Set eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit
- Evaluate credit or determine an insurance price
- Assess an applicant for a rental or other housing
- Make a decision to employ or terminate a person
A legally permitted screening need must be handled through the proper South Carolina Law Enforcement Division process or a provider that complies with the FCRA.
5. No Legal Advice
The site's content is informational and is not legal advice. General explanations of Lee County records cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, or expungement rule affects an individual matter. A licensed South Carolina attorney should address those questions.
6. No Warranties
All material and services are offered "as is," without a promise that:
- An outside search provider will return complete or correct results
- Every page will be free from defects, errors, or security weaknesses
- Access will remain available and uninterrupted
- Any item of information will always be complete, accurate, or current
Criminal files change as charges are filed, resolved, sealed, or expunged. Updates may therefore lag or contain gaps. No statement on the site is an official declaration by the Lee County Sheriff, a court, or another public agency.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
Outbound links can lead to courts, the Sheriff's Office, state agencies, legal resources, and independent search services. Those destinations are outside our control. Their availability, content, prices, privacy choices, and accuracy are their responsibility. Review the destination's terms before proceeding.
8. Intellectual Property
Lee County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required before copying, modifying, distributing, or creating derivative material from that content.
9. Limits on Our Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site and its operators are not responsible for damage arising from its use, including reliance on content obtained here or through an external service.
10. Indemnification
A user agrees to indemnify and hold the site harmless against claims, demands, and proceedings caused by the user's conduct or breach of these terms, including related legal expenses.
11. Governing Law
South Carolina law governs these terms, and any dispute concerning site use must be brought in a court located in South Carolina. The South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, Title 30, Chapter 4 governs public-body records and does not make this private site a government custodian.
12. Changes to These Terms
These conditions may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the new version is posted here.
13. Cutting Off Access
Access may be restricted or ended at any time, with or without advance notice and for any reason allowed by law.
14. Severability
If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to become enforceable.
15. Questions
Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
